The Tanzania Association for Professional Counsellors and psychotherapists (TAPCAP) is the National Umbrella Organization that brings together all practicing counsellors, Psychologists and Counselling/Psychology training institutions in Tanzania. TAPCAP was officially formed in 2009 and registered by the government with registration number SA 16541.
To develop and enhance the quality of life in society by promoting the development of practicing professional counselors and psychotherapists hence advancing the profession, and using the profession and practice to promote respect for human dignity and unity in diversity.
TAPCAP is leading the effort to make practicing professional counsellors and psychotherapists widely recognized as a professionals whose purpose and activity is understood by the general public.
Our mission is centered around five core objectives, each designed to elevate the standards of professional practice and ensure a supportive environment for both practitioners and clients alike. 1. Registering qualified counselors and Psychotherapists to ensure a high standard of professional service. 2. Ensuring that registered counsellors and Psychotherapist provide quality services that meet the needs of their clients. 3. Establishing a code of conduct to guide service provision and maintain ethical practice. 4. Providing relevant training for registered counsellors and Psychotherapists to enhance their professional development. 5. Create a safe and secure professional environment for clients to embark on their counseling journey.
